Dining With Diabetes Program

— filed under:

Are you among the 800,000 Ohioans diagnosed with diabetes? Or you may be one of the estimated 200,000 who has diabetes, but doesn’t know it. Plan to attend Dining with Diabetes workshops to learn more.

Dining with Diabetes teaches individuals with diabetes and their families about better ways to prepare food that may improve their diabetes management. The program is open to anyone with diabetes, their family members or caretakers.  Demonstrations on how to prepare recipes that are healthy, use less fat, salt and sugar without cutting taste are a key part of the program.  There will be an opportunity to taste a variety of main dishes, side dishes and desserts.

Ohio State University Extension and Magruder Hospital is presenting this three part workshop. The program is held periodically throughout the Erie Basin, a group of ten counties that offer Family and Consumer Science Education, as an outreach of the Ohio State University.  The next workshop will be held on Monday, August 22, Tuesday, August 23, and Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.  at Magruder Hospital, Conference Center, 615 Fulton St, Port Clinton.  Participants should plan to attend all three sessions.

The cost of the program is $25.00 per person or $30.00 per couple for the three part series.  The fee is payable at the first class. There is also a $6.00 charge for attendance of each additional support person. Please call 419-898-3631 to register. Preregistration is required by August 12, 2011. Seating is limited.
