Marestail
- Marestail continues to be a problem in no-till soybean fields throughout Ohio. This weed can require almost a full year to complete its life cycle, and is considered to be both a winter and summer annual. Two broad periods of emergence result in plant populations that become problematic in soybeans. Plants that emerge in late summer and fall will overwinter as rosettes (plants with elongated stems in fall do not survive winter), and these will be present at the time of crop planting.

Flexible Cash Rent
- Flexible-cash rent usually pertains only to cropland, with fixed rents for buildings, farmstead facilities, and relatively minor acreages of pasture, hay, or woodland. Both parties need to agree on the amount of these "non-flexible" rents prior to start of the lease period. In addition, the flexible-cash rent keeps the landowner eligible for potential "windfall profits" should they happen.
